Issued Patent Portfolio

The following is a list of patents that have been granted to Odyssian Technology and that are available for license or acquisition.  Not listed are pending patents that include both U.S. and foreign patent applications.

Multifunctional Composite Sandwich Element with Embedded Electronics

US 7,349,225 B1

Description:

This patent describes composite sandwich or panel structure having electronic components located within the core region. The core structure is porous or made up of truss elements. Truss elements may be angled or perpendicular to the outer facesheets of the sandwich structure and may extend the entire structure or be made up of smaller discrete truss elements. The composite sandwich structure may have redundant electronic components or circuitry, which is activated if equivalent components or circuitry have malfunctioned.

Multifunctional Composite Sandwich Element with Embedded Electronics (Division of patent 7,349,225)

US 7,667,981 B1

Description:

This patent is for a bulkhead or other structural load carrying member that is subjected to externally applied structural loads and that includes composite sandwich electronics attached to, embedded within, or part of the load carrying structure. The core structure has honeycomb, cellulous, or cellular foam construction. Electronic components or circuitry are located in a central core region having core structure.

Seals with Integrated Leak Progression Detection Capability

US 7,316,154 B1

Description:

This patent describes smart seals having integrated leak detection sensors. Leak progression detection is provided by placing leak sensors between redundant sealing elements or surfaces. When sensors are placed to detect leak progression, the smart seal may warn of an impending leak before containment by the seal is lost.

Some of the smart seals made by Odyssian Technology are known by the trademark sensorSEAL™. These seals can be standalone sensing and sealing devices or networked to make-up a larger smart piping system.

Multifunctional Construction/Molding with Integrated Electrical Interconnect and Outlet

US 7,374,444 B1

Description:

This patent describes an electrical distribution system that includes a power track integrated within structure, trim, or architectural elements. This electrical distribution system also includes electrical adapters or interface plug-to-receptacle device that allows a conventional electrical plug to be plugged into the narrow opening of the power track. This technology provides advantages over conventional electrical wall outlets, including improved aesthetics and an increase in the points-of-access to power.

This technology, which is known by the trademarked eBoard™, comes in various forms including power tracks integrated within decorative trim similar to chair rails, floor boards, window frames, etc. Other forms of eBoard™ include the power track integrated within load-bearing structural elements including ceiling joists, wall panels, seating structures, vehicle structures, etc.

Seal with Integrated Sensor

US 8,061,211

Description:

This patent describes smart seals having elements that both seal and sense changes in sealing force and internal containment pressure. This technology allows for the detection of changes or reduction in sealing force that if undetected may lead to a leaking seal. This technology may also identify which bolt within a flanged fitting is loosening and causing a reduction in sealing force.

Some of the smart seals made by Odyssian Technology are known by the trademark sensorSEAL™. These seals can be standalone sensing and sealing devices or networked to make-up a larger smart piping system.

Composite Repair for Pipes

US 8,113,242

Description:

This patent describes a pipe repair system made from thermoplastic composite materials. Heating elements are integrated within the composite wrap repair material(s) and elastomeric over-press material. Electrical current is first applied to the embedded elements within the composite wrap repair material causing the thermoplastic matrix material to soften. Once adequate temperature is achieved, the heating elements that are embedded within the elastomeric material are energized to generate heat. The elastomeric material, which is placed between an outer rigid over-press and the thermoplastic composite wrap material, expands when heated causing pressure to be applied to the heated thermoplastic composite repair material. The pressure exerted by the elastomeric and rigid over-press system causes the viscous thermoplastic matrix material to flow and fuse to the pipe [or other structure] requiring repair. Sensors can be applied to the composite wrap repair and the pipe to monitor the integrity of the repair.

This technology provides advantages over conventional thermoset composite wrap repair systems including much quicker in-field processing, no workability time limit, longer shelf life, no mixing or metering, no resin set-up time, recyclable, improved damage tolerance, and integrity monitoring.

Composite Repair for Pipes and Monitoring Assembly (CIP of patent 8,113,242)

US 8,631,829

Description:

This patent describes a boot, sleeve, or clam-shell assembly containing sensors that can be used to detect leaks, health, and state of a liquid or gas containment device.

This technology, which is sometimes referred to by the trademark sensorSLEEVE™, can be placed over a containment device such as a pipe, pipe repair, valve, fitting, pump, flange, joints, pressure transducers or other mechanical device to monitor its integrity. The sensorSLEEVE™ acts as a secondary containment structure or collection basin and houses sensors used to detect leaks and monitor the integrity of the repair or containment device.
