R&D Engineering Technician

About the Company

Odyssian Technology is a high technology company focused on technology innovation and creative product development related to smart composite structures, smart [in-dwelling] power distribution systems, and highly integrated sensor networks and control systems. Odyssian is involved in developing technology and products for both the military and commercial marketplace. Exciting work is underway in the development of novel power access and control systems for use in military shelters, and a smart oil & gas (O&G) pipeline system capable of point-of-source leak detection and health monitoring.

About the Opportunity 

The selected candidates will be key contributors to the development of technology and future products related to computerized power distribution and load control systems, smart O&G pipeline systems having integrated leak detection and structural health monitoring sensors, and various other products involving the integration of sensors, antenna, and power subsystems into structures, enclosures, and devices.

Selected candidates will have the opportunity to contribute in one or more of a multitude of areas, including;

  • Designing structural systems having integrated electronic circuits, sensors, and active materials.

  • Fabricating prototypes using FDM rapid prototyping system, outside machine shops, etc.

  • Fabricating electrical power devices and components

  • Fabricating smart pipe and sealing systems

  • Developing smart structure fabrication and composite processing methods

Qualifications

  • Must have a two year degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, Engineering Technology or equivalent experience.

  • Strong preference given to candidates with combined majors in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Technology or equivalent experience with mechanical and electrical systems.

  • Must have solid skills, practical sense, and interest needed for hands-on fabrication of high quality prototype systems.

  • Strong preference given to candidates with experience or knowledge in advanced composites with interest in smart and multifunctional structures. 

  • Prefer experience in Computer Aided Design (CAD) using Solidworks. 

  • Prefer experience in electronic circuits and circuit board fabrication.

  • Must be highly creative with strong problem solving skills and inherent ability to conceptualize innovative and practical solutions.

  • Prefer candidate with an interest in the Aerospace, Automotive, or Renewable Energy Industry.

  • Must have strong written and oral communication skills.
